Goal for Good Cup: Where Every Goal Counts

Date: November 16, 2024
Venue: South United Football Club, Ulsoor, Bengaluru

Football with Heart, for the Tiniest Lives

This World Prematurity Day, the field lit up with more than just talent; it was filled with purpose. The Goal for Good Cup, hosted by South United Football Club (SUFC) in partnership with Neonates Foundation of India (NFI), brought together young footballers, coaches, families, and supporters in a powerful show of compassion for newborns in need.

U-7 and U-9 players poured their energy into every pass, every goal, playing not just for their team, but for babies fighting for survival in NICUs across India. Each cheer from the stands was a step closer to awareness, each match a moment of belief in what care can do.

The event was honoured by the presence of:

  • Mr. Terry Phelan – Sporting Director at SUFC, UEFA license holder, former World Cup player, and EPL star
  • Mr. Adhip Bhandary – AFC Certified Coach and youth mentor
  • Mr. Pragyan Medhi – Midfielder, NorthEast United FC
  • Ms. Neole Cornelio – Professional athlete, national medalist, and gold medalist for India

One of the most heartfelt moments came when attendees tied purple ribbons to a butterfly installation, a quiet, powerful act of remembrance and hope for premature babies.

This wasn’t just a tournament; it was a movement.
It showed how a sport can become a statement. When children play with purpose, and a community rallies together, lives can be transformed.

The Goal for Good Cup reminded us that even off the field, every goal can be a lifeline.
