A Story of Pravya and Priyal
Two Little Girls, One Big Promise
When Shivani gave birth to twin girls, their arrival came much earlier than expected. Born at just around 28–29 weeks of pregnancy, the tiny babies weighed barely over a kilogram each – fragile, delicate, and needing immediate intensive care. What began as a moment of joy quickly turned into a journey filled with uncertainty as the twins were admitted to the NICU at Motherhood Hospital, Indore, where doctors worked carefully to help them breathe, feed, and grow stronger.
Their father, a farmer by profession, comes from a rural background where resources are limited and every day is shaped by hard work and unpredictability. For the family, navigating medical care in an unfamiliar environment was overwhelming. The early days in the NICU required patience and strength – progress came slowly, measured in small improvements that meant everything to the family.
During a follow-up by the NFI BEN-I team, a beautiful part of their story came to light. The twins’ grandfather shared that he had been the one spending long hours beside them during their NICU stay, watching over them with quiet devotion. Speaking with pride and affection, he shared how deeply he loves his granddaughters and how determined he is to see them grow, study, and build a better future. He even asked about government schemes that could support their education, which is a simple but powerful reflection of his dreams for them.
In many rural settings, daughters often face unspoken challenges and gender biases. But in this family, the love and commitment shown towards these twin girls tell a different story- one that gently challenges those barriers. Seeing a grandfather speak with such hope and determination for his granddaughters is both heartwarming and inspiring.
Today, the twins, now lovingly named Pravya and Priyal, are nearly two and a half years old. The pictures shared by their parents show two happy, growing children, far removed from their fragile beginnings. From tiny premature newborns fighting for stability to active little girls full of life, their journey is a reminder of how care, family support, and unwavering love can shape a brighter future.
Pravya and Priyal’s story is not just about survival, but it is about a family that chose hope, a grandfather who believed deeply in his granddaughter’s potential, and two little lives that continue to grow stronger with each passing day.
