From a Fragile Start to a Thriving Today

Baby of Rajeshwari was born prematurely at 36 weeks, arriving in the world much earlier and smaller than expected. Within hours of birth, the newborn faced severe breathing difficulties and had to be shifted immediately to the NICU. What should have been a moment of celebration turned into days filled with fear for the young parents.

Rajeshwari and her husband Chitaranjan come from a modest background in Raipur. Chitaranjan works in factory maintenance, earning a limited income that barely meets the family’s daily needs. With another small child at home, the sudden medical emergency was emotionally overwhelming and financially impossible for them to manage alone.

The baby was admitted to the NICU at Bal Gopal Children Hospital, Raipur, on 5th of September, 2025, where he was placed on a ventilator right from admission. Under the dedicated and reassuring care of Dr. Anand and the NICU team, the baby received round-the-clock support. Day by day, with constant monitoring and gentle care, the little one began to fight his way through the most fragile phase of life.

As the treatment continued, the cost of prolonged NICU care became a heavy burden on the family. That is when NFI stepped in as a ray of hope. With timely financial support, the parents could focus on their baby’s recovery rather than worrying about mounting bills.

Sometimes, a single act of kindness makes all the difference. Somewhere in the city, a donor’s cheque, just a leaf of paper, turned into life-saving care for this newborn. That quiet support helped a family hold on, hope stronger, and a tiny life move closer to safety.

Today, the story has taken a beautiful turn. During NFI’s BEN-I team’s three-month follow-up, the baby was found to be doing very well. Named Garv, he stands today as a symbol of resilience, care, and hope. Now four and a half months old, he is feeding well, gaining healthy weight, and reaching his milestones just like any other growing infant. The parents are relieved, grateful, and filled with joy as they watch their child thrive.

From a fragile beginning to a life of strength, little Garv truly lives up to his name.
